2.         Purpose:

The bill would amend Public Act 261 of 1965, which prescribes the powers and duties of a county parks and recreation commission, to add a neighborhood representative to a commission.  The language specifies that this provision is for a county with a population greater than 750,000 but less than 100,000.  Presently, only Macomb County meets this population criterion.

3.         How does This Legislation Impact Current Programs in the Department?

The bill does not affect programs of the Department.

No.

5.         Agency Support?

The Department has no position on the bill.

6.         Arguments Against the Bill:

The legislation is crafted for a single county (Macomb) and a specific park (Freedom Hill Park).

7.         Arguments For the Bill:

It will assure representation of the residents from the neighborhood affected by the activities at Freedom Hill Park on the county parks and recreation commission.

None.

Macomb County Parks and Recreation Commission will be required to add a neighborhood resident from the vicinity of Freedom Hill Park.
